Football betting rules at Lucy Bet

These Lucy Bet football betting rules explain how football bet settlement works, including regular time, extra time, penalties, match interruptions and live events. They are intended to help adult players in Ethiopia understand a selection before placing a bet.

Lucy Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. Before confirming a bet, check the market name, the period covered, the match status and any special conditions in the bet slip. Specific market conditions take priority over this general explanation, subject to the applicable Terms and Conditions.

A won bet meets the selection’s winning conditions; a lost bet does not. A void bet is treated as invalid for settlement, with the stake returned for a single bet. The effect of a void selection on a multiple bet depends on the applicable multiple-bet rules. A “cancelled” status should be checked against the reason shown in your bet history.

Standard settlement time: 90 minutes

For most football markets, settlement is based on 90 minutes of play plus referee-added stoppage time. Stoppage time, also called added time, compensates for interruptions within each half. It is included in regular-time settlement. Extra time is a separate period played after regular time in some knockout matches.

Extra time and penalty shootouts are not included unless the market name or rules clearly state otherwise. “Full time” alone should not be read as confirmation that extra time counts.

  • Match Result / 1X2: the home win, draw or away win after regular time.
  • Double Chance: two of those three regular-time outcomes combined.
  • Total Goals: goals scored during the stated period, normally regular time.
  • Handicap: the result after applying the stated goal adjustment, normally to the regular-time score.
  • Both Teams to Score: whether each team scores during the stated period, normally regular time.

First-half, second-half and other period-specific markets cover only their stated period. Check the selection rather than assuming every football market uses the same time limit.

When extra time counts

Extra time counts only where the market rules include it. Markets labelled “including extra time”, “To Qualify”, “Winner of Tie”, “Team to Lift the Trophy” or “Outright Winner” may cover a different outcome from a standard Match Result bet.

A “To Qualify” selection concerns the team that progresses, potentially after extra time or penalties if the market includes those stages. An outright winner selection concerns the eventual winner of the specified competition. Neither should be confused with a team winning an individual match within 90 minutes.

For extra time football betting, also check whether a market covers extra time only or the combined regular-time and extra-time result.

How penalties are settled

A penalty taken during the match is different from a penalty shootout, the separate contest used to decide some tied matches.

  • A goal from a penalty during regular time counts like any other goal for markets covering that period.
  • A penalty goal during extra time counts only for markets that include the relevant extra-time period.
  • Shootout goals normally do not count towards Total Goals, Both Teams to Score or regular-time player-goal markets.
  • The shootout winner may determine qualification, trophy or outright markets where their rules include penalties.

Check the penalty shootout betting rules for any market specifically offered on the shootout itself.

Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches

There is no single refund rule for every interrupted fixture. Settlement depends on the event status, the market and Lucy Bet’s published completion deadline.

Applicable postponement and resumption deadline: [Insert the Lucy Bet completion window and any competition-round conditions approved by the compliance team.]

  • Cancelled before kick-off: selections may be void if the fixture will not take place under the applicable rules.
  • Postponed before kick-off: bets may remain valid if the rescheduled match falls within the permitted window; otherwise, the applicable void rules determine settlement.
  • Abandoned after starting: unresolved markets may be void if the match is not completed within the permitted window. Markets already conclusively decided may stand where the rules allow.
  • Resumed later: check whether the original match continues or a new match starts. These situations may receive different treatment.
  • Official result changed later: any effect on settled bets is governed by the result-correction provisions, not automatically by the revised score.
  • Incorrect event details: an incorrect date, team or market requires review under the error provisions. It does not automatically guarantee either a valid bet or a refund.

For a cancelled football match bet or postponed fixture, check the settlement reason and the applicable deadline before assuming the stake must be returned.

Live football betting settlement

In Lucy Bet live, odds and market availability can change quickly. Sending a bet request is not the same as having an accepted bet. Acceptance may be delayed while the event status is checked.

A goal, red card, penalty decision, dangerous attack or VAR review may cause an odds change or market suspension, meaning betting on that market is temporarily unavailable. An unconfirmed request may remain pending, require acceptance of updated odds or be rejected.

Live scores, clocks and broadcasts can be delayed or corrected. Settlement uses the confirmed event data specified by the rules, rather than an unverified on-screen update.

Odds changes and bet confirmation

The odds for an accepted bet are those recorded in its confirmation, subject to the applicable error provisions. If odds change before acceptance, the system may offer the revised price or reject the request. Check any odds-change acceptance setting before submitting.

Review the selection, period, stake and odds in the bet slip, especially during live football. Then check your bet history for confirmation. A pending or rejected request should not be treated as an accepted bet.

Suspected pricing, display, data or technical errors are reviewed under the published rules. An accepted bet is not automatically cancelled because odds later move, and an apparent error does not automatically entitle a player to a particular settlement.

VAR, official data and result corrections

VAR can overturn goals, penalties and disciplinary decisions. A provisional event may therefore disappear from the confirmed match record. Markets may be suspended, or settlement delayed, while the decision is checked.

If an official source corrects a result or statistic after settlement, any adjustment must follow Lucy Bet’s Terms and Conditions, including the applicable correction limits. Later disciplinary or administrative decisions should not be assumed to change every bet.

If you dispute a settlement, keep the bet reference, market name, accepted odds and relevant event details. Ask support which rule and data determined the outcome.

Player, cards and corners markets

  • Cards: check which recipients count, whether bench or coaching-staff cards are excluded, and how second yellow cards are treated.
  • Corners: check whether settlement requires a corner to be awarded and taken. An awarded but untaken corner may not count.
  • Player participation: a non-participating player’s selection may be void, but starting and substitute requirements vary by market.
  • Player goals: own goals are normally excluded from the player’s goalscorer total unless the rules state otherwise.

Check the specific market rules before placing a bet, including the period covered and the official statistical source.

Examples of football bet settlement

Scenario Settlement
The match is 1–1 after regular time. Team A wins in extra time. A regular-time 1X2 bet on Team A loses. The winning regular-time outcome is the draw.
Regular time ends 0–0. Team B wins the penalty shootout. A regular-time Total Goals Over 0.5 bet loses. Shootout goals are excluded.
The match is cancelled before kick-off. The bet is void if the applicable cancellation rules require it; check for any rescheduling provision.
A live bet request is submitted during a VAR review. The request may remain pending, require updated odds or be rejected. Check the final confirmation.
Team A advances after penalties. A Team A “To Qualify” bet wins if the market includes qualification decided by penalties.

Responsible football betting
